Light-hearted, summery, and infectious while being supple, kiki wera’s delectably melodic indie pop tune ‘Pool’ is the right thing to chirp up your mood on a gloomy Monday afternoon. Combining a delightful ukulele with subtle synths, the entirely bedroom produced bop from this Boston songwriter and producer is a testament to her talent as a composer. With an ear for the right kind of samples and an even better penchant for piecing together a melody that’s insanely infectious, kiki wera makes ‘Pool’ her finest release yet.
It’s a summer anthem without being over the top or excessive at any moment. Completely content in its almost minimal aesthetic and suave swagger, Pool has you bopping your head from side to side as you sing along to the rather mundane but ever so relatable lyrics. An indie pop anthem completely done up in a bedroom, it’s also an indication of just how talented this next generation of producers are getting.
kiki wera’s making a name for herself soon, and I’m all here for it if each release is going to be close to as catchy as this bop.
