Taking a more experimental and unique approach, BEACH BOY’s latest single sees the alternative rock group create a slow and unsettling piece of dark grunge influenced music. ‘WALK’ is thoroughly intriguing, continually keeping you on edge of what’s to come. The heavy vocals with the equally dark and dreary instrumental arrangement make for an almost biblical sounding piece. When the drop hits, there’s something deeply ominous and haunting that’s echoed in the sound. It’s a majestic piece of hard rock, absolutely engaging and heavy in its harmony.
Topically, the song explores themes of mindfulness and trauma. The line ‘My Cain was Abel’ refers to the biblical story where Cain murdered his brother Abel out of jealousy, then God condemned him to walk for the rest of his life. It has that feeling embedded into it, the perennial journey of a long and everlasting walk. One of the most impressive and unique pieces of hard rock I’ve had the pleasure to experience this year.
