Bringing together two styles of punk music, DCxPC’s latest release is an absolute frenetic and cathartic explosion of punk rock in the most boisterous and outlandish way. Curtains brings out a much more measured, melodic, and skater style to the fore. There’s a bit of an alternative sound to their work which is completely contrasted by the Swift Knuckle Solution. The latter are much more abrasive, an out and out gritty and grime focused outburst that combines elements of metal and hard rock into this rather raging and powerful force that just energises you and riles you up with such fervour.
But really, there’s not much to set these two apart in terms of enjoyment. Curtains open the project with an absolute rousing set of three songs that just spark your attention across ‘Scattered’, ‘Downturn’, and ‘Smoke Alarm’. Not one of these pieces feels like its lasted enough time before that raucous guitar just starts raging down on you all over again and the follow up comes crashing in. When they pass over the baton to Swift Knuckle Solution, you can immediately tell the more clear influences of metal in their sound. The vocals are more loud, in your face, and demanding your attention. It swaps the more tempered melody for unfettered aggression and electric energy.
If you’re a punk enthusiast, this is a live set you won’t want to miss. ‘Live at The Danger Room’ has a bit of everything, an absolutely furious collective of two distinct punk groups at the top of their game delivering and serving up their own unique stylistic approaches to this genre. A delight for the inner rebel in you.
