Dylan Tauber has a distinct sound, a style that’s markedly unique and eclectic in nature. The experimental electronic artist from Northern Israel is no stranger to the industry, having already amassed a host of awards and being the face of Sons of Waves Studios. On his latest record, ‘He Loves Carmen’, the ever boundary breaking artist creates luscious ambient electronic soundscapes that are epic in scale and proportion. With a 25 year career under his belt, it’s no surprise to come across the level of intricate detail and atmospheric grandeur that He Loves Carmen is able to deliver.
There’s a similarity in each track, with each evoking that same sense of sensual luxury and almost golden resplendence. The vocals serve as an additional instrument in the incredibly layered and intricate meshing, adding a sort of swooning and spiritual air on top of what would otherwise sound almost antithetic. On a tune like I Love Carmen, where the vocals are pronounced and the lyrics are distinct as opposed to more experimental sounds, you can see a more pronounced and qualified vocal interlude that gives direction.
But the real standout tracks on ‘He Loves Carmen’ are the ones that are almost wholly experiential. The warm, atmospheric grandeur of ‘You Are Never Alone’ is transcendental, an epic and soothing aroma and cloudy environment that envelopes you and has you floating. Then you also have the more bass boosted, almost commercial pop sounding tunes like ‘I Am a Mirror. The rather down tempo techno style that Tauber synthesizes here is ideal for a mellow trip to unwind down to.
