Frank Rabeyrolles’ musical style is deceptively hard to ascertain, pin down, or categorise. What can be said, is the melodies and soundscapes he chooses to produce and sing are ever so immersive, psychedelic, atmospheric, and altogether groovy while being infinitely lackadaisical. On ‘Even Space’, the rather experimental folk artist takes you down an audio-visual journey that makes you feel droopy, subdued, and serene in a matter of minutes. The production somehow both falls on the lustrous and the raw in the same movement, an incredibly subtle and supple balance that keeps you rocking onward while descending downward.
‘Even Space’ is meandering yet precise, rough yet smooth, and effervescent yet still all at once. It’s a remarkably hard to pin down sound that can be best described as a sonic experience that arrests your senses in a slow descent. A remarkable piece of musicality.
