New York based pop rock artist Jay Elle has a penchant for crafting tune after tune of inherently addictive melodic pop rock that’s driven by outwardly simple acoustic work and internally complex song writing. ‘Ride the Wave’ is loaded with melodies, a twelve track EP that’s loaded with intricate guitar melodies and and vivid imagery that’s innately positive and euphoric. It’s a rock record musically, but sonically in the way it feels and emotes it has that undying optimism and gleeful energy of a pop piece. ‘Ride the Wave’ is a dose of positivity in times that are dreary and filled with negative emotions. Despite the inevitability of bad times that the pandemic has imposed on us, Jay Elle’s belief of better days comes shining resplendently through this record, from the very first titular track. Just ride the wave, ride out the bad days, manage to find something worthwhile, and eventually be rewarded with sunshine that you can soak in to the best of your abilities.
While studying at the Geneva Conservatory of Music, Jay Elle discovered his passion for blues, jazz and pop. Jay has written and performed with singer-songwriter and producer, Margaret Dorn (Bette Midler, Boz Scaggs) as well as having worked closely with the legendary Bill Aucoin (KISS, Billy Idol.) There’s plenty of diversity amongst the soundscapes across this record. A more latin pop energy dominates ‘Tequila Kiss’ for instance while ‘Rainy Day’ has an almost blues rock energy strewn across it.
‘Ride the Wave’ is just a delectable assortment of melodic pop rock that’s a testament to an artist’s ability to infuse good vibes in the darkest of times. Personal favourites for me come out in the titular piece and the more experimental and poppy ‘Miss Mess’. Don’t miss out!
