With one of the most jarringly electrifying openers you’re bound to hear, Lewca riles you up and gets you all set and ready for a rollercoaster ride of bewilderingly distinct and innovative experimental beats amidst old-school hip-hop production on the aptly titled “Boombap for Boomers”. The Parisian based record is littered with guest appearances through and through. it’s carried and lifted by the sheer confidence and bravado in the vocal performance from Lewca and his collaborators throughout the album. From the poundingly demanding opening piece “Peace of Mind”, you’re already getting your head rocking and grooving to this groovy blend of funk, hip-hop, and booming vocals.
My favourite comes on songs like “Monday Morning”, which somehow start to get a bit of reggae in them. He’s got an ability to provide these delectably relaxing and lackadaisical energy to his tracks that’s just groovy and soothing for whatever mood you find yourself in.
For its difference alone, its ability to think beyond the pale, and the sheer fun that the whole record just effortlessly exudes, Boombap for Boomers is a sheer delight from back to front.
