Marc Schuster opens with Arguably with one of the mosts full songs I’ve heard in a while. Now that might immediately come across as a strange descriptor, but I assure you it’s the right one. There’s so much happening on this song, from it’s lengthy intro to it’s equally long outro and the sheer melodic bliss encased between the two. Not one to shy away from song length that’s needed, Marc Schuster brings a level of instrumental dexterity and melodic distinction to each and every piece. There’s so much loaded within a single track that each feels like a composition that could be an EP in and of itself.
It’s a record that yearns and succeeds with its experimental tendencies. But, at the very same time, Schuster also consistently is able to highlight ever so graceful and catchy pop melodies to the pieces as well. The simplicity and pitter patter of “One Cup of Coffee” is markedly different from the grandeur of “The Best Day” and that’s what makes ‘Arguably’ such a flourishing record to lose yourself in.
