A perhaps universally relatable theme coupled with a rousing chorus makes Ollie Twohill’s latest record an everlasting form of pop rock. ‘Hollow’ describes that feeling right after a relationship capitulates when you least expect it. You’re left feeling entirely empty, as though there’s literally nothign that can wake you up or make you feel anything. It’s not sadness or rage that prevails, just the most confusing emptiness that leaves you entirely blank. But the way Ollie Twohill expresses and delivers this message is more inspiring, more rousing, and kind of uplifting even. It allows you to vent from when those feelings first impacted you, building with a tenacity and having crescendos that are so essential in their catharsis it leaves you feeling.
An Australian pop rock artist who has really left me eager for more.
