Driven and opened by a bewitchingly romantic acoustic section that’s as intricate as it is intimate, Romain Gutsy’s faint pop rock tune ‘My Only Love’ is a passionate ode to an undying and eternal love. There’s a distinctively Spanish feel to the entire opening section, but that gives way to a more traditional almost classic pop rock performance in the vocals and the string play after. His voice is charismatic, cinematic, and deeply endearing. The lyrics might not be anything too astounding or complex, but the message is resoundingly clear.
The arrangement has been done by Marc Bentel, a South-African music professional, who moved to Florida, USA after having won multiple awards with bands he was part of. Bentel gives the song a more grandiose feeling, a building and operatic arrangement that moves with purpose and poise. It’s poignant and powerful in equal measure.
