The Seattle based alternative rockers kick things into second gear quite quickly, bringing out the heavier elements of their arrangement on the chorus as that recognisable and addictive titular line starts being sung with a harmonic passion to replicate. Somehow able to tread the line between classic rock and indie rock, The Northern Light have a sound that’s almost intergenerational, perfectly capturing an innocence of today with a wistfulness and wisdom of yesteryear.
The powerful guitar driven number is a sure-fire crowd pleaser, with a chorus that is just bound to have you belting it at the top of your lungs. There’s a killer electric solo towards the songs final section, the kind of invigorating shredding you’d come to love from 70s classic rock outfits. But at its core, that indie rock warmth still shines resplendently through. A truly evergreen piece.
