Organic, raw, and very intentionally nostalgic in his aesthetic and sound, Sam Wrangle’s jangling acoustic driven indie rock tune “Just Living Really” does indeed “take you back to where it all began”. His mellifluous vocals, oscillating between moments of high and low showcase his range and ability to deliver wildly different styles. The glaze of the 80s mixed with a distinct shoegaze roughness combine to create this energy that’s simultaneously quirky and endearing. It’s got a very DIY energy to it all, perhaps reflected in the conscious analog aesthetic.
There’s something refreshing and at the same time reassuring about the whole air of the song, stripped back but also intentionally so in the right of ways. It’s a hearty and warming tune that reflects the title’s ethos holistically, it’s just living really.
