Mo Douglas – The Most Expensive Restaurant in Portland

Coming through with a hypnotic and nostalgic bumbling rock tune, Mo Douglas’ latest piece of garage deftly combines elements of psychedelia and surf to create an offbeat and smooth instrumental piece that puts you in a lull to enjoy. There’s a rambunctious guitar riff and an equally raucous rhythmic section that when combined create a smooth rollercoaster tune to riff out to. It’s got a montage feel to it, a cinematic allure reminiscent of some sort of gangster escapade to boot. Wonderfully stylish.

Markus Murphy – Already Blue

A summery and folk loaded tune that almost immediately leaves you in a blissful mood, Marks Murphy’s ‘Already Blue’ is the right kind of tune to play to get rid of your Monday blues. There’s a distinct retro vibe embedded across the arrangement and Murphy’s own smooth vocal performance. The arrangement is almost too happy to be true, and that fact is doubly reassured in the lyrics. Like most soul pieces that feel innately happy and cheery, there’s a more deep seated pain that’s hidden away in the lyrics of ‘Already Blue’. But don’t let that dismay you, it’s bound to at the very least have you a bit more cheery and light hearted.

TONYC – Unreal

Supersonic in scale and seismic instature, TONYC’s Unreal sees the electronic artist experiment with one of his loudest and most intoxicating beats. ‘Unreal’ is unimaginably overwhelming, a barrage of hard-hitting and heavy bass drops guised in a melodic synth that pervades over the entire piece. It feels a bit ominous, slightly haunting, and wholly intoxicating. It’s rave music in its purest form, allowing you to completely escape and tune out to the all encompassing feel and nature of its scale and tune.

Future Lows – Hell Below

A pure and powerful modern rock single that’s avowedly anthemic, Future Low’s ‘Hell Below’ is meant for a stadium. It’s immense in its scale, a sing-along piece of hard rock that’s loaded with massive guitar hooks and aggressive drums. But what steers the tune more than anything else is its central vocal performance that gives the emotional depth to the entire piece. It takes you to the darkness, but also leaves you feeling the power of hope and that sliver of possible relief at the end of a dark road. You feel like you’re drowning, but you also feel uplifted and empowered to find your way to the top of the mountain against all odds. Take yourself to the next level, elevate who you are, and find your light on your way home.
