Cheshire based emerging artist Jess Lees shows her wings through a truly endearing vocal performance on the ever so warm hug that is “Broken Souls”. Although the name and artwork might leave you feeling a certain darkness awaits, there’s such a hope to her voice that almost contrasts the more morose lyrical content as well.
It’s incredibly written as well, with Lees using the track to highlight problems of dependency. Traveling over the rainbow, slowly losing your own grip of reality, and sinking further and further into this detachment and leaving you with what the title describes. We look for respite and we might never find it.
Jess Lees delivers a truly wonderfully fresh yet keenly nostalgic alternative rock arrangement on this track that most rock enthusiasts will find something to love on.
