LÓN – Earthquake | Secluded Folk

Recorded during isolation in a cabin in Reykjavík, ‘Earthquake’ is a testament to the effects geography and time can have on the conception of a feeling. While in the studio, Reykjavik was hit by an earthquake that shook the studio with a verve and shock to all within it. The group immediately rushed outside to see if everything was alright, concerned that the impact had broken the foundation of the cabin itself. Thankfully, nothing of seriousness occurred and the three piece outfit continued to record right after. Earthquake might signal a song that’s heavy or thunderous, but LÓN’s track is far from that. It’s about falling in love with someone new, and the revelation that this new relationship has the potential to irrevocably change everything around you.

Earthquake features soft and serenading humming, moody acoustic strumming, and lyrics that convey the intimacy and vulnerability of a new love. ‘Will all of this be here, when morning comes? Are we bound to be a memory?’ There’s a simplicity to the lyrics, but it’s the kind that’s concise and evocative without the need for flamboyance. They ponder and contemplate on the futility of this relationship, but proceed to reach an understanding that at least the moment they have for now is enough and more to appreciate. When it comes to finding love, there can’t be a better message.
