‘Harley’ is about a girl. Not a relationship, or a crush, or an idol; just a girl that STAND-IN saw, but never met. While with his friend and producer at a red-light stop, he noticed a girl who blew him away. Almost immediately after, he saw her run to a guy, presumably her partner, and embrace him. The result of this one off seemingly random and insignificant one sided interaction is a sparkly and summery dream pop anthem about unrequited love and envy. It’s a bit strange, but it’s also quite endearing to listen to.
As far as a summery pop anthem goes, you’re not going to find one that’s as bouncy and pleasing as ‘Harley’. It’s a love song unlike any other, a voyeuristic approach with a fun and upbeat feel.
