Although originally from an indie rock band, Lekna’s pivot to a solo career has seen him embark on an artistry inspired more by deep house and electronic, with Kygo being cited as an integral influence on his sound. On ‘Wide Awake’, the artist opts for a pulsating piece of music with thundering bass and beats to invigorate you in the club. It’s the kind of repetitive and infectious energy you’d be craving to find for your local rave.
Lekna started playing the guitar when he was 8, heavily inspired by traditional old school genres like rock and roll. This led to his success within the 4 piece indie rock band Charmides from 2017-2019 where he played multiple venues including Camden Assembly, The Wedgewood Rooms and Jimmy’s Bar in Manchester. Post his experience in the indie outfit, his transition might seem slightly off left field considering how dramatically different his sound is now. Make no mistake though, Lekna is out to create waves in entirely new pastures with his solo project. It’s deep house to engage you at a visceral level. Dance on.
