Desires & Liars is the debut from Sydney’s Terry Jack Eddy. A wonderfully emotive and romantic piece that bathes itself in the energy and and futurism of electronic music, Terry is already making waves in taking a synthpop genre to another place altogether. At a crisply condensed two minutes long, ‘Desires And Liars’ is just an injection of energy that rides on you without breathing room.
An incredibly wavy start, an overdose of vocal producing, and a simple but addictive chorus, it’s a sharp electro-pop gem that’s impossible to get out of your head. Indietronica isn’t easy to get right, but ‘Desires And Liar’s hits the bullseye with this gem of a track. The constant back and forth between inward introspections of personal reflections with the outward calls to action for desire deftly allows for a balance to be had between synthpop lyricism atop of minimal house textures. It’s a club song at one moment, and a bedroom bop at another.
Don’t skip this up and coming Australian artist. If this debut single is anything to go by, you can be assured that Terry Jack Eddy is going to create a host of tunes that are as experimental as they are enjoable.
