The first solo release from Talksick is a testament to their penchant and ability to create annoyingly infectious electronic pop music. Previously featuring on a Billboard #1 hit on U.S Dance Radio (Like Nobody), the three piece outfit are quickly climbing up the increasingly prevalent sphere of electronic/future-pop out there today. It’s one of those dance pop anthems that sits perfectly in the balance between a massive crowd rave and a ‘bump alone in my room’ tune. Elke Tiel’s vocals on this single are the perfect complement to the production, echoing an almost Charli XCX-esque delivery.
On the content of the song itself, 2 Complicated is defiantly upbeat. It’s a pop record after all, and an unabashedly empowering and positive one at that. The song is about realizing you are with a partner who doesn’t care enough about you and gaining the courage to walk away in a fashion that’s both optimistic and empowering. The track’s strongest asset has to be the chorus — from the first time you hear it to about twenty four hours after, it’s not going to leave your stream of thought. Any little thought you have is bound to be interrupted.
“You think it’s overrated, have a conversation, maybe I’m too complicated for you”. A simple ‘f*ck you’ never sounded so uplifting. Go follow TalkSick right now!
