Glasgow based electronic duo Roman Nose are equal parts eccentric and electrifying in every sense of each word. Often times found decked out in black hooded tops and intimidating masks, the pair have little to no care to be given for sound regulation or graffiti laws. On the opener, ‘Man’s Gotta Eat’, that frenetic energy and almost unwaveringly pulsating beat continually powers through as ‘I’m homeless, jobless, time is hard’ is continuously echoed in your ears as their dark, industrial, but wholly enjoyable electric dance music takes you on their ride. You aren”t even the slightest bit bored when the ‘Mans Gotta Eat’ edit hits in, it just serves to extend what you already know and have had fun revelling in.
From the more hip-hop esque vibe that Man’s Gotta Eat brings out, ‘Chills’ takes you down a more experimental and all over the place smorgasbord of eccentric sonic elements that stop and start without warning, while also managing to fuse seemingly disparate elements into a consistent and unrelenting pulse of pure electronic bliss. ‘BMGK’ takes it one step further, with a far more ominous and almost scary beat. Here, the energy sounds downright futuristic, almost as if we’re hearing the sounds of an underground rave in some sort of digital dystopia that’s rife with off the wall lighting and strange fashion.
All in all, ‘Man’s Gotta Eat’ sees Roman Nose delivering three undeniable rave worthy tunes that are relentlessly marauding in their energy and eccentric in their edginess. Definitely something you’d lose your mind to at a club.
