Immaculately produced and sung with a vocal maturity and stature far beyond her years, Alicia Daydreams latest EP ‘MAZE’ is a pop rock highlight that’s filled with three tracks, each of which could easily be a mainstream pop single. Alicia has already broken through to the mainstream, with songs like MAZE, the record’s titular track, already capturing the imagination of hundreds of thousands of listeners. The record is luscious, loaded with drops and shimmering synth work that shines only to amplify Alicia’s exceptionally evocative vocal performance across each of the three tracks.
If it’s anything to go by, it won’t be long before Alicia Daydreams is a household name in pop circles. This London based artist has miles left to go and she’s only just getting started with a body of work that’s already touching levels of exceptionalism you’d expect from a record produced and backed by a full label at her side. On one level, it’s a testament to how smart and astute bedroom producers have become these days.
My personal highlight on the record comes from its closing track ‘Genie – Remix’. The sultry and soft electro-pop tune feels trance inducing, a relaxing high that’s reminiscent of an Alina Baraz type track. It has you floating, completely in a state of spiritual bliss that envelopes you and has you feeling completely surrendered to the track’s ethereal energy.
Between all three, you’re bound to find at least one that’s going to be a mainstay on your playlists for a while.
