Irish psychedelic rock outfit Cosmic Embers are an uncle and nephew duo from Dundalk with a penchant for the woozy and wobby style of rock. A delightfully deep vocal performance opens with a hazy and atmospheric arrangement before a heavy and crashing electric guitar kicks in to transform the otherwise dreamy production into a hard rock banger. The song offers a part cautionary but altogether tongue in cheek tale about readapting to life in society after growing happily accustomed to isolation. The low baritone vocals, the almost sci-fi sounding UFO sounds, the crashing electric guitar, it’s all one fluffy kerfuffle of sounds that muddle together into a mix that’s wildly unique.
Not your run of the mill rock track whatsoever, ‘Apocalypse in Metropolis’ combines the best bits of an overcast and ethereal psychedelic arrangement with the heavy and raucous hard rock instrumental sections to piece together a fusion to remember.
