Madam Who?’s ‘Reclaim Your Power’ is defiantly quirky. The strange and slightly unmistakably unique record from the PITTSVILLE based song writer and artist has no real counterpart to draw an equivalence to. It’s a bewildering smorgasbord of styles, ranging from pop to hip-hop to even glam rock. But at it’s core, there’s a level of groove and funk that Madam Who? maintains to her listeners across this seven track wildly imaginative experience. While the titular track starts you down a rather confusing lane that might leave you slightly perplexed, it quickly finds its footing on its next piece.
‘You Are Not Alone’ feels like a song you’ve come across before. It’s a cheery and rosy optimistic pop rock tune that carries with it a central and undying message that’s instantly gratifying. Madam Who?’s vocals are impeccably performed here. The chorus is also filled with a melody that’s immediately addictive. On ‘Goddess In Our Midst’, the performed changes the vibe into a tune that’s loaded from top to bottom with funk. The groovy rock tune is driven by quick licks and an addictive riff to match. The entire album is a beacon of self-worth. From the more ‘I’m fine on my own’ tunes that just exude confidence like I Am Enough and Good Without You, Madam Who?’s unique brand of modern pop rock is bound to get you believing in yourself.
