There’s something so serene about the robotic futurism of About Gorillas and Vampires ‘Working Like A Robot’. The quaint and glistening electronic beat coupled with a beautifully touching vocal performance make for a strange pairing between the metallic and the natural. The entire song feels dystopic, but strangely wistful and hopeful at the same time. Filled with little sonic elements that add to the overarching gears, nuts, and bolts aesthetic, it’s in the synth driven melody that you find yourself inextricably hooked. They manage to take a song that’s about the mundane and infuse it with so much liveliness and mellifluous melody that you can almost feel your own monotonous tasks in a repetitive and seemingly endless desk job start to feel just a little bit more entertaining or at the very least bearable.
