Bringing out one of the most luscious yet industrial sounding pieces of electronic music I’ve experienced this year, Flatfoot Sam’s TripField experience on ‘Boathouse’ is nothing short of magical. The rough around the edges but sumptuously smooth in between sonic journey that this track takes you through is a breath-taking and harmonious trip that has you entirely mesmerised. The faint vocal harmonies in the background, the synth beat that pulses throughout, and the metallic arrangement all find a way to seamlessly bounce off one another with a level of precision that’s immensely captivating.
It doesn’t feel like a run of the mill electronic track, carrying with it so much more emotional depth and resonance with just a minimal vocal section that sounds operatic in stature and feeling. But what’s most appealing about Boathouse is its intro, a scissor robotic and metallic opening industrial section that slowly starts to give way to a pulsing mellifluous synth beat that rings true throughout.
