Conceptually, ‘Backup Plan’ takes an ever so annoying yet universally relatable concept and paints a vivid, luscious, and rather grandeur indie anthem around it. Written about the constant disappointment and frustration we face when making plans and dedicating ourselves to people who so callously drop out or let us down, Bel Kil so evocatively captures that exasperation on the song with a resplendence to behold. The song heavily uses guitar and bass tones to create this rather luscious atmosphere that captures you and immerses you in the larger soundscape. That chorus refrain sticks in your head as you find yourself singing ‘I won’t let it ‘ again and again.
I absolutely the level of scale and stature that Backup Plan presents you with, it just feels like something epic while being so grounded in theme and emotion.
