Dreamy, imaginative, and altogether surrealist in its feeling and mood, BSP’s magnetic electronic pop experience on ‘In My Garden’ truly has you entirely and wholeheartedly immersed in a kaleidoscope of sounds you’re innately captivated by. Opening with a wholly instrumental driven piece on ‘I Don’t Align’, BSP first puts you in the mood by crafting a sonic expedition that leaves you understanding the space you’re in. Then, on the titular and second track on the record, the delectably sonic imagery is complimented by a sultry and effective vocal performance that adds layers through metaphors and journeys. As a whole, the album serves as a walk through the syneasthete ‘garden’ which is made up of different phases of life
Combining visuals with sonics, BSP producing original paintings while singing and playing the canvas. Through her unique process, she has a visual reference and painting that complements each piece on the album. It’s larger than life, massive and colossal in scale when it wants to be, but also bearing in mind that it retains a core message and story that’s far more grounded and immediately relatable to any a listener. What’s most captivating is the sheer lusciousness of it all, the opulence and splendour that’s able to be divulged from the wonderfully rich and buoyant soundscapes that just feel like they’re being built up piece by and piece and brick by brick around you.
You’re swept away, thrust into a garden of greenery that represents a journey of your own choice, a freedom and resplendence that you yearn for. Of course, my interpretation is one of many but that’s the beauty behind art so open and mystical. A wonderfully experimental and transcendent record.
