From the very first listen of the strings on ‘Not Satisfied’, you find yourself slowly arriving at some sense of inner calm. As the vocals kick in, Chasing Vampires completely serenade you into their slow moving ballad of a tune that hits your emotional core with such rich and soothing melodies. A rock and roll tune with clearly outlined pop sensibilities, this nostalgic sounding piece had me reminiscing about the post rock groups and songs I so loved growing up. There’s a vibrancy to the song, a kind of resplendence that has you finding your own inner light and holding on to it with such a tight grip.
With introspective and evocative lyricism delivered with such empathic eloquence, ‘Not Satisfied’ is a heart warming piece of rock music that’s hard to come around these days. The song’s final minute, with the isn’t it funny refrain is one of my favourite musical moments all year long.
