Ever the outfit to brighten my mood, Bones in Butter’s latest tune takes a much more uplifting and poppy route. ‘Down But Not Out’ is a much more pop inspired sound from the Serbian rock outfit. Loaded with a more focused precision towards synth work and the dominant 80s revival sound, it has that kind of surging feeling that almost carries you to newer heights purely off of its elevating energy. The guitar work, particularly the constant riff, alongside the background synths offer a very different form of arrangement from what I’ve come to expect. The vocals work great on this track, a bit more hushed over and almost serving as a piece to accentuate the entire instrumental arrangement at large.
You come out from ‘Down but Not Out’ feeling resoundingly better. When you’re at your low point, it gives you a second wind, a kind of random surge of energy to keep you moving despite the obstacles your way.
