America Owns The Moon’s “Tiger” is an exciting and raw collection of songs that showcases the band’s early days. The album, which is essentially a collection of pre-production recordings, captures the energy and tightness of the band’s live performances. The songs on “Tiger” are stripped down and unadorned, allowing the band’s talent and passion to shine through. The raw recording quality adds to the charm of the album and gives it a sense of authenticity and spontaneity.
Kickstarting on ‘The Hard Way’, the jaded and jangling guitar riff that often clouds the more background sounding vocal performance jumps you into third gear with a gritty and aggressive piece of charged punk rock that lifts the soul and energises you like never before. This same relentless and pulsating energy doesn’t really relent throughout the record, it continues to have more fun with itself on each track with its raw garage driven sincerity. On songs like ‘Freak Out’, you really see the talent this group had for hook writing as well, perfectly synthesising a true punk/garage tune that still manages to be infectious as hell. The bass and pumping drum work definitely play a central role in giving every song its edge.
America Owns The Moon is a rock and roll band that originated in Indianapolis in 2000. The band’s founder, Christian Taylor, wrote a collection of songs and recorded them for fun before forming the band. After practicing for about a year, the band started performing live and quickly built a reputation as a tight and energetic rock band.
Over the next few years, America Owns The Moon played shows throughout Indianapolis and even opened for Guided By Voices. However, after several years of playing live shows, the band members felt burned out and went on hiatus for a while.
During this time, the band recorded a full-length album with producer Jeb Banner and Andy Fry at Queensize Studios. This album is set to be released sometime in 2023. In the meantime, America Owns The Moon released “Tiger”, which is a collection of pre-production recordings that captures the raw energy and talent of the band’s early days.
All in all, “Tiger” is a must-listen for fans of rock and roll and raw, unadulterated music. America Owns The Moon is a band that truly knows how to rock, and this album showcases their early talent and energy.
