Inki’s rather left-field yet distinctively enticing production on “Destructive Interference” makes for a wholly otherworldly sonic sensation. Combining a hauntingly sensual falsetto with a foreboding and tense arrangement, the tune builds with a level of anticipation and suspense that keeps you entirely engrossed. The production is holistically experimental, combining her own experimental approach with deeply alluring vocals to create this soundscape that feels wholly her own. Each time that chorus comes along, you’re dug deeper into the maze of “Destructive Interference”.
The lyrics tastefully use music production terms as metaphors to describe two people in a relationship whose energies are clashing. The entire recording process was also unique, with Inki seeking out collaborators at a time of creative block while also incorporating a raw live drum stem into the larger electronic ensemble to give it something grounded while still letting it fly.
Mesmerisingly hypnotic, this is truly enigmatic and engaging alternative pop music.
