To me, Pisco Sours was one of the most exciting releases i’d heard all year. So, when I saw Arliston were back with something fresh, I couldn’t have been more excited to see what they’d come with. And, lo and behold, “451” doesn’t disappoint one bit. There’s such a keenness to the way they’re able to convey a feeling, an emotion, and an expression. Using the vocals as an instrument themselves, the arrangement on this latest piece feels so overwhelming, but in the best of ways. It just envelopes you under its warmth, a blanket of delectable electronic pop melodies that cascade and hit you with such an elevating euphoria in that harmony of “maybe you’re a little lost”.
With a video alongside that was filmed entirely with cheap VHS camcorders, and even sourced a 1960’s cathode ray-tube TV, there’s an additional component to this experience that comes alive through that visualisation as you see them light those three numbers on fire.
Without a doubt, this is my favourite one yet. I find myself writing this with literal goosebumps on my hands as that chorus line just has me feeling all kind of ways.
A special one.
