Plaintive and poignant, Alan Dweck’s soft and supple folk ballad is driven and powered on by an evocative piano progression that leaves you wholly immersed and engaged in its narrative. “Got lockdown on my brain, it’s just lockdown everyday” he sings with such resignation and melancholy. The song quite perfectly captures that moment in time, all the annoyance at the stagnation and the moodiness of the isolation. But there was also something keenly relaxing and freeing about the era, the complete silence and lack of disturbance from the outside world and all its constant hurling of things at you. In that sense, there’s an element of peace to be had that placates you and almost leads you to accept it for what it is.
Relaxing and rejuvenating, Dweck hits the emotion and moment with precision and poignance.
