Alec Berlin’s titular piece from his newest record maybe his most ambitious and powerful yet. The groovy and energising power rock tune carries itself on sumptuously slick electric guitar solos and equally riveting backing bass and some sort of heavy synth to add a level of gravitas that gives the entire soundscape a kind of intensity and ominous characteristic. But it’s in the way the electric guitar and drums flow seamlessly off one another that you’re really left hopping and head banging to this seismic opening track. “Beat Confabulator” is a scintillating piece, a simply electrifying piece of rock and roll instrumental music that feels done a disservice to be heard on headphones of any kind.
This is music best experienced with its full set up, live and direct. There’s a majesty to its arrangement, the kind that only really delivers every ounce of what its sonic elements comprise of when you’re there to bask in that jam. He’s done it again.
