‘Big Old Nowhere’ is a fun packed piece of indie rock from back to front. From the quirkily titled ‘Aliens Don’t Ring Doorbells’, this bustling piece of indie rock has a sense of fun and energy to it that almost breeds and brings a feeling of community and togetherness. You’re reeled into the companionship that the band is trying to evoke, this larger sense of purpose that’s attached to being a part of this pervasive and nihilistic yet all encompassing entity that is this ‘Big Old Nowhere’.
When I find myself feeling a bit at loss with everything in the world around me, it’s sheer vastness, emptiness, and seemingly pointlessness, I find some solace in the cheer around this tune. It almost makes you feel like there’s something larger to be brought out and that we’re all one in this large mess.
