Andrew Patterson – Hope Will Find It’s Way | A Beacon

Being a massive fan of Sally Rooney myself, and with Normal People being one of my favourite albums, I was naturally drawn to Andrew Patterson’s single from early this year that drew inspiration both in name and in content from Rooney’s wonderful novel. The Belfast based artist has a way with music similar to Rooney’s with novels. A simple yet inescapably meaningful and engrossingly addictive style that centres itself around subtlety and emotiveness. His new piece, ‘Hope Will Find Its Way’, places Patterson’s story telling front and centre of a folk-pop piece that, while soft and supple, is gloriously anthemic in scale and emotion.

His song-writing style draws influence from the grandiose anthemic nature of a Springsteen, but his delivery is far more restrained and grounded. ‘Hope Will Find Its Way’ is the kind of track to feel uplifted to, to engross yourself in wholeheartedly so that you can believe in a better tomorrow. A bit of folk, a bit of rock, and a lot of emotion.
