It’s always a pleasure to come across an artist who’s doing something i have no real parallels to draw to. Bristol based psychedelic folk artist boci (pronounced bocky) is a violin looper and singer songwriter who’s uniqueness comes from her choice to combine the charming, timeless, and intimate soulful energy of celtic folk alongside a modern indie pop arrangement. Her vocals, spacey and ethereal, add another dimension of beauty to the already soothingly serenading piece that is ‘The Garden’. It’s far more than just your run of the mill folk song, it feels like a medicine, like an antidote to pain and anxiety. Just one listen to The Garden and you’re craving more, completely enraptured and in awe of the vibrancy that she exudes.
As just the first single from her debut album, there’s clearly so much more in place for this Bristol based artist to uncover. Any fan of folk will find the energy simply irresistible, entirely transcendental, and wholly magical. A dream that you don’t want to end.
