Opening with a flurry of electronic pulses that overwhelm and electrify, Bryanna Rain awakens you on the short but succinct titular track of Lavenderwax before taking you down a journey within on her EP. Rain’s style is characterised by something distinctly futuristic, built on pulsating electronic production and processing to craft something almost robotic yet so moodily melodic all at once. There’s so much happening across each track’s runtime, with the arrangement almost perpetually flooded with minute bops and synths that fuse together into this one flourish that’s simultaneously jarring but also inviting. It’s beyond the scope of normality without a doubt, defiantly carving its own lane through a euphoric elation inducing high that’s brought to life around the mid section of GhostBaby’s runtime.
Far from your run of the mill record, Bryanna Rain’s latest electronic pop record drives its own vehicle, customised and fitted with attachments that let it tread roads that few would dare to travel on. Lavenderwax is wonderfully out there with its experimental approach, a thoroughly outlandish and left-field approach at times but a keen sense of what makes a pop record work beyond the normal conception and boundaries.
At just three tracks long, out of which one is effectively an intro, the EP rides into stride with lengthy and immense electronic whirlwind pieces. There’s such a force and fervour to the rhythm across this record, a burrowing and building pulse that rides the listener along with it.
For anyone with an affection for electronic music, this is a distinct and unique composition that’s well worth your listen.
