There’s a feeling that’s innately endearing and enjoyable about a purely acoustic driven song. That minimalist and raw feeling that draws from the guitar strumming and group humming makes for an experience that draws all the listeners in to sing along together. Carnival Mind are cheeky as hell, both in the way they present themselves and in the way they sing their tunes. ‘When my fever burns, sky’s the limit, when my table turns, sky’s the limit!”
The track has hardly anything complicated going on, but it’s in its simplicity where it succeeds. It’s much harder to craft a song that’s as stripped back as this, and as easily catchy. There’s a sincerity and self-deprecating quality attached to the tune that makes it all the more hilarious and fun to listen to. The chorus is undoubtedly one of the most addictive pieces of acoustic rock you’ll encounter all year. In that contrast between its rather grim content but merry tonality, Carnival Mind carve out a niche that makes them one of the most interesting and emotive groups out today.
If you enjoy Sky’s the Limit, their other track ‘Shots‘ will simply blow you away. It’s a bit more melancholic, but strangely describing a much more enjoyable situation. Don’t miss out on them.
