Sounding straight out of some strange dystopian future, Chip Pirr’s glitchy electro-pop undertaking ‘When In Rome’ is as hauntingly beautiful as it is innately unnerving. While the chorus sounds clear and has a distinctive clarity to its lyrical piece, the opening verse has you entirely perplexed and confused at the rather staccato and obtuse sounds that are hurled at you. Then, as the chorus hits, a beautifully serene performance captures you and swoons you into a smooth lullaby that completely contrasts the robotic verses.
It’s strangely catchy, despite its seemingly confused and absurdist tendencies. A weird and wacky piece of electronic pop that will have you completely subsumed by its magical ambience.
