A multi-genre symphony that’s seemingly not plausibly attached to any one of its constituent elements, Connor Terrones’ ‘Drown’ is a remarkable piece of experimental music that manages to fuse together the worlds of pop, electronic, jazz, funk, and a whole lot more in a medley that’s not once cacophonic. The chaotic confluence is remarkably melodic from start to front, maintaining a clear and recognisable hook that has you infected. But it’s in the wildly diverse soundscapes that exist within its short runtime that you’re really blown away and mesmerised by the sonic palette and mood that Connor Terrones is able to express so seemingly easily.
If for nothing else than to marvel at, Drown is a welcome project for most to hear. The electronic work in particular deserves note.
