After grappling with the intense and pained grief that came from the loss of her mother, Corinna channelled that energy into this record and its opening two pieces. The opener itself, ‘Give Me A Sign’, is a roaring piece of electro rock that is as opulent as it is cathartic. It exists in such magnificent scale and power, with Corinna’s vocals powering through with such intense verve and passion. When life seems meaningless, and everything around you seems like its not going right for anyone, you often start to double think what the world has in store for you and everyone else. ‘Give Me A Sign’ taps into that almost primordial need to understand.
On ‘Im Not Ready Now’, the entire style switches quite drastically but while still maintaining the same emotional zeal and passion that ‘Give Me A Sign’ brings to life. It’s a more brit-pop inspired piece, therefore possessing that innately emotional and hopeful element embedded into its voice.
In addition to the tracks produced by Arpino, Corinna includes the sixty second interlude “London Cafe”, an forty-two voice acapella choral affair, which samples various cups from the kitchen cupboard.
