Cultures have such an affable and easy to listen to energy and melody to their brand of indie rock music. The Manchester based outfit are best described as a rather glistening style of flamboyant indie pop rock that still retains core elements of britpop influences amongst a more raw and gritty style. On their latest release after an extended break, Cultures bring out a melodic and mood shift that releases itself into one hell of a moment of catharsis by the song’s conclusion. The song is incredibly sombre and morose in tonality, as it paints the picture of losing someone you love while also having to endure watching them suffer. But that darkness doesn’t overtake or pervade over the glistening optimism that they reinject into the song in its latter half.
It’s the kind of inspiring and warm tunes that’s bound to keep you in good spirits in times of darkness.
