Released alongside an incredibly dark humoured video, ‘Nothing out of Me’ is a lot more nuanced than a superficial glance might lend you to believe. The defiant and boisterous piece of contemporary pop music takes a very pointed approach to poking fun at the oftentimes sexist and discriminatory label of ‘crazy’ that ambitious and assertive women are perennially faced with. With a humorous video and an upbeat and cheery piano and bass arrangement, Daisy’s vocal performance is wonderfully accentuated and complemented to deliver her message with resounding impact
Daisy definitely has a fire within her, a resentment towards those who’ve tried to wrong her or manipulate her. ‘Nothing out of Me’ is fierce and combative, but delectably fun to consume. “Overall, the song is a tongue in cheek joke of “you’re not getting nothing out of me” even though you think you are.” The swagger with which she hits that line in the chorus embodies the entire personality and attitude that the song carries.
