On “Purge and Flourish”, Dave Belding takes you down a progressive industrial rock journey that’s downright haunting throughout. The ominous foreboding in the atmosphere is palpable, a kind of darkness that just looms over you constantly and has you questioning everything around you. There’s a grimness to it, a rawness in the expression that’s both brought to life in the emotion of the vocal performance and the effects attached to it but also the progression of the arrangement from something deceptively minimal to something much more epic and all encompassing in scale. It feels like a black cloud slowly taking hold over you, something very familiar or akin to grunge groups like Alice In Chains.
Rivetingly expressive and raucous in its power and scale, “Purge And Flourish” is a sheer tour de force of a style of rock that’s slightly forgotten today. Grunge fans will absolutely delight in this experience.
