‘Back to Rio’ feels like a descent into madness, a surrealist frenetic assault of leftfield electronic rhythms and melodies that’s as cacophonic as it is symphonic. Electrohed aka Gavin Lombos is a storied artist in the scene, having his own label, music charity, and a career that’s seen him tour across the globe. Having been a big fan of hip-hop collective OSP, I was immediately intrigued to hear Electrohed’s work since Gavin was the mastermind behind their ‘Riser Remixes’. His work leaves you with a similar impression, the kind of high energy music that’s also wildly innovative in the way the beat’s delivered to you. You find yourself moving uncontrollably , in a total frenzy to the rhythm itself.
‘Back to Rio’ is a brilliant piece of eclectic electronic music that can’t possibly be tied down to a region, style, or even tempo. What’s undoubtable is its energy, and that’s coming and raining down on you in a barrage. Find your spark.
