An EP that stands at just two tracks long, Everything but the Everything & Adam Brookes have put on a show with their latest record ‘A & B Sides, Vol. 1’. The new wave rock record meshes together an amalgamation of different sub genres together into a couple of tracks that combine a classical sound with a distinct new wave sheen. There’s a dexterity in the arrangement, a certain intricate depth to the layering of each instrument and creativity in the overall production that lends itself to craft a nostalgic and catchy set of tunes.
Beginning with the clarion call that is ‘We Want More’, you’re thrown into a chorus line that seemingly just never ends as you repeat and repeat that line along with the performers. It energises you, has you yearning for everything around you and refusing to accept defeat by any parameters. The vocal performance carries onto Open Your Mind with a similar monotone approach but here the build up is far more evocative.
A new collaboration with San Francisco singer/songwriter/producer Adam Brookes, this Oakland based rock experience is delightfully experimental and exceptionally talented in putting together remarkably diverse arrangements.
