Bringing together a dreamy aesthetic to an otherwise raw and grounded folk arrangement, Evi Bosman announces herself with flamboyance, focus, and flair on ‘All That Remains’. The ever so touching melodic journey of this five track indie pop record made a fan out of me in no time. As you find yourself serenaded by the melancholic yet somehow hopeful string arrangement on ‘Something To Dream Of’, Evi Bosman’s measured and soothing vocal performance has you on a knife’s edge. Each track on this record has a sort of suspense to it, an air of mystery that beguiles you and intrigues you into discovering what more could happen. There’s a sense of finality that’s missing by the end of the first song that then perks your attention to listen forward.
As you flow into ‘Lose A Friend’, there’s a much more poppy energy that’s brought out. Bosman’s falsetto on the chorus is a marked highlight, as is the remarkably catchy guitar line that runs through the song. ‘I’ll Be Right Here’ switches the mood into a much more melancholic and slow ballad that manages to also exude a sense of grandeur and wonder into its air. It’s the most magical and cinematic piece on the record as a whole. A song like ‘Remind Me’ is precisely the kind of easy listen that has you feeling all kinds of warmth and fuzziness on a gloomy day.
So, for fans of indie folk music, particularly the sound of a Phoebe Bridgers type artist, Evi Bosman’s catalogue and ‘All That Remains’ in specific is bound to make a fan out of you.
