What Fiona Amaka gets so right on “Different” is her ability to put through a track that’s quaint, homely, yet keenly distinct. Amaka’s voice is distinctly her own, a style that’s strangely endearing and unlike anything I’ve ever had the pleasure to experience. The London based performer relies on a kind of wistful romanticism on “Different” that sets it apart from the crop of indie folk tunes one might be accustomed to. Much like the theme of the song, the musicality itself is intrinsically unique.
But at it’s core, Fiona Amaka is able to deliver a love song that’s kind, warm, and so pleasantly enchanting without being heavy or overbearing one bit. It’s the perfect kind of musical warmth.
