Opening with a shivering opening acoustic section that almost leaves you feeling like you’re in some sort of spiritual chant, Flora quickly shifts to a delectably bouncy and melodic alternative pop beat-scape that bops along. The Guildford based artist’s voice is exceptionally unique, a texture that’s constantly wavering, hitting different notes in such seamless progression that you can’t help but find yourself glued. “Long Road Home” is so innately diverse in its composition, bringing out so many different sonic elements that combine moments of pop, synth, electronic, and even a kind of folksiness.
I find myself so exceptionally enamoured by flora’s style, she’s just two songs in yet there’s such a clear and concise direction to where she’s going and a distinction within her larger soundscape. Anyone who appreciates alternative sounds is bound to find themselves obsessed with her imagination on “Long Road Home”.
